L’il Aussie Prems Foundation have finalised our donations towards the purchase of items for the chosen hospitals from our Wear Green for Premmies campaign in 2013.
We have purchased a Grasby Apnoea Monitor for Monash Medical Centre NICU, 2 x SureTemp Electronic Thermometers for Ballarat Base Hospital SCN and 2 x 10″ portable dvd players for Ipswich Base Hospital SCN.
Details of our donation to the RBWH Milk Bank are below.
After our ‘Wear Green for Premmies‘ celebration in April 2013, part of the proceeds raised from our event are being distributed to purchase items and equipment directly to help support nurseries as chosen by our members.
We are thrilled to share the news that part of the funds raised from our event, have enabled us to kindly purchase and contribute towards the purchasing of items for the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital Milk Bank from a ‘wish list’ provided directly from the RBWH NICU.
We recently purchased 100 x Fildes Foodsafety fridge/freezer thermometers and contributed towards the purchase of 100 x Carrington Cooler Bags, each of which hold up to 2 litres of expressed breastmilk. The NICU and its staff currently provide their tiny babies with the best possible care, which includes access to pasturised donor human milk when mothers cannot produce their own. By supporting the RBWH Milk Bank, we are supporting the fragile babies currently in the NICU in need of donor breastmilk.
A very special little girl dropped into the milk bank last week to donate the items on behalf of our Foundation. Erin now 6 years old, was born at 26 weeks weighing a tiny 428 grams and spent 152 days in the RBWH NICU. Erin loved visiting the hospital and we thank her mum, Rebecca very much for the wonderful photos and attending the hospital on our behalf. Also, thank you to Gail from the RBWH Foundation for her support in liaising between the NICU and Milk Bank directly on our behalf.
We thank everyone who supported our event this year.
Each year 4 new hospitals will be chosen so that over time, all of these special nurseries will be supported through our fundraising efforts. If you wish to nominate and vote a hospital for next years event, you must be registered on our forum.
Find out which hospitals we will be supporting in 2014 including the charities and causes that we have previously supported prior to registering as a charity from our events in 2011 and 2012.
