In July 2015, nominations opened to find Australia’s “Premmie Heroes”, the ordinary yet extraordinary individuals who volunteer their time in the premmie community supporting families who have given birth prematurely.
Our awards are an Australian first and the only award which recognises and celebrates the dedication of individual volunteers within the premature birth community and was officially launched in 2009.
This year, our judges were overwhelmed with the outstanding volunteer work that each nominee contributes towards the community which made their task of judging the awards very difficult. They each took careful consideration when reading the achievements from all the nominations received.
We are pleased to announce and congratulate the three recipients of this years awards as chosen by our panel of judges in 2015;
Trish Campbell – Winner
Betty Esmonde – 1st Runner Up
Adrienne Gilligan – 2nd Runner Up
The judges and our committee would like to congratulate each of the winners and all of our 2015 nominees on their nominations and encourage them to continue with their incredible volunteer work. We extend our admiration and gratitude for all of the time and effort they provide with supporting families. Without our “premmie heroes”, many families would be lost in their journey and their support is vital to help assist families whilst their baby is in hospital and for the many years afterwards.
Nominations for our 2016 Premmie Hero Volunteer Awards open Friday, 1st July 2016.
