In July 2014, nominations opened to find Australia’s “Premmie Heroes”, the ordinary yet extraordinary individuals who volunteer their time in the premmie community supporting families who have given birth prematurely.
Our awards are an Australian first and the only award which recognises and celebrates the dedication of individual volunteers within the premature birth community and was officially launched in 2009.
This year, our judges were overwhelmed with the outstanding volunteer work that each nominee contributes towards the community which made their task of judging the awards very difficult. They each took careful consideration when reading the achievements from all the nominations received.
We are pleased to announce and congratulate the three recipients of this years awards as chosen by our judges in 2014;
Keri Norris – Winner
Dorothy Kolmer – 1st Runner Up
Rebecca Davis – 2nd Runner Up
The judges and our committee would like to congratulate each of the winners and all our 2014 nominees on their nominations and encourage you to each continue with your volunteer work, and we extend our admiration and gratitude for all of the time and effort you provide in supporting families. Without our “premmie heroes”, many would be lost in their journey and your support is vital to help assist families whilst their baby is in hospital and for the many years afterwards.
Nominations for our 2015 Premmie Hero Volunteer Awards open again on Wednesday, 1st July 2015.
