Babies Outlook/Ongoing Issues: Tim suffered horribly from undiagnosed silent reflux for the first 5 months of his life. He fed every two hours for the first 4 weeks, which led to enormous sleep deprivation for all involved. We went to sleep school at 5 months, and were placed on milanta, which made an enormous difference. Since then he has progressed brilliantly, and overtaken his older (by 20 months)sister’s weight. He has achieved all of his developmental milestones to date. He is an absolutely delightful, cheeky, two year old who loves discovering the world around him.

Advice From Parents: Accept your child for whom they are. Don’t label them with problems just because of their gestational age. Tim at 36 weeks, caused us more dramas than his sister who was born at 32 weeks. Whatever gestation your baby is born at focus on what they achieve, not what they cannot achieve!

Current Age: 10 months
Current Weight Now: approx 12kgs
Babies Outlook/Ongoing Issues: Nothing that we can tell so far. He is slow however reaching his milestones but he is a really big boy so we are not sure if that is the main reason.

Advice From Parents: Premmie babies are amazing with their fight for life. Believe in your miracle and take heaps of photos so you can see them grow each day. My first son was born at 27 weeks so we were very pleased to reach 36 weeks with our second son. Be sure to talk to other parents whilst in the NICU/SCN as they are a great support.
