Our Programs & Services

The NICU and SCN journey is experienced by thousands of families across Australia every year and affects each one differently. Families face the challenge of many months of daily travel to and from the hospital while their child receives critical care. Parents and families in these circumstances frequently face the additional burden of financial stress during this time. Day-to-day expenses of being in such an exceptional environment including daily parking, time away from work, medical costs, and finding nutritional and easy meals, quickly add up while supporting their child through an extended hospital stay.

L’il Aussie Prems Foundation has always looked for ways to broaden the opportunities for the support we offer to families of sick and prematurely born babies in hospitals all over the country so our programs are designed to alleviate these pressure for families.

Meal Vouchers for NICU/SCN Families

13924995_10154487808665972_7617068839343348886_nOur new national program launched in August 2016, provides parents with a nutritional opportunity that is not currently being fulfilled in the community we support, thanks to the incredible support from Grill’d Australia. Our new meal vouchers program will offer high quality, nutritious meals by way of a gift card, redeemable at any Grill’d outlet up to the value of $25.00 per card. Our vouchers will provide parents with the opportunity to maintain their own health and wellbeing whilst their baby is receiving care in a NICU or SCN.

Our meal cards are provided directly to Social Workers within nursery units and to date, we have donated 60 x meal vouchers to hospitals in Victoria, Queensland, Australia Capital Territory and New South Wales. Read More…

Our wish is to extend our programs’ reach into further hospitals and to ensure that we can continue donating our meal cards to nurseries upon request. To do this, we need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today.

Thousands of families often live hundreds of kilometres from the hospital where their baby is receiving critical care and must seek emergency accommodation to stay close to their baby. Parents are placed under immense emotional, physical and financial stress during the many months that their baby will stay in a hospital. The L’il Hands Accommodation Support program is designed to provide direct benevolent relief towards accommodation expenses for these families being faced with living away from home with a premature or sick newborn admitted into neonatal care at Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton.

Over the past two years, our Foundation has contributed over $6,000 to help ensure that together with the support of the RMHM community, that the cost per night to stay at the House is subsidised for these families. Read More…

Knitting For Premature Babies

knit3In April 2014 and 2015, we partnered twice with That’s Life Magazine in support of our annual Wear Green for Premmies event. We have a small army of ‘two’ volunteers who coordinate thousands of knitting items each month. Over the past three years, we have received close to 80,000 knitted, crocheted and sewn items since the projects launched, and we continue to be overwhelmed with deliveries. All of our donated items are received in parcels filled with beanies, booties, jackets, blankets and knitted bears with beautiful heartfelt notes inside. We have delivered 56 packages and over 50 large boxes of knitted items to hospitals throughout Australia within three years, which the staff provide to families with babies currently being looked after in each nursery. L’il Appers Support Program

FPH-iPadsOur L’il Appers Support Program was first launched in August 2014, through the donation of seven iPads to two nurseries and Ronald McDonald House in Clayton. The iPads have become an additional resource and support for long and short term antenatal patients, and for the families who have a baby currently receiving treatment in their nursery. Support is vital for a positive outlook and mental health during both the pregnancy and the days or weeks following on from birth and our unique project helps to connect families to our online support services. We kindly thank the staff for their enthusiasm to implement our program within their hospitals and services. Equipment Donations to NICU/SCN’s

hostWe love to give back to the community and our wonderful community chooses who we are supporting each year. We are very proud of our longstanding tradition of supporting hospitals whilst also raising funds to ensure that we can continue to support families of premature and sick newborns in the community through our programs and services. Our Wear Green for Premmies event continues to make an impact by enabling our charity to donate equipment to Australian nurseries from part of the funds we raise each year. To date, we have donated up to $25,000 towards supporting milk banks and the purchase of equipment for sixteen nurseries throughout Australia over the past six years. The hospital recipients in 2017, will bring our total to 20 hospitals to receive such support. Read More…

Birth Announcement Cards

maingirl11remplateWe all know how special the birth of a premature baby is and we have welcomed parents to add their child’s birth announcement on our website since 2008. With every birth announcement, parents have the option to request a single sided personalised “congratulations” photo card sent to them in the mail. They have been very popular over the years and are often placed in a scrapbook or as a keepsake. We have donated close to 1,500 personalised cards for the past nine years to parents all over the world. Read More…
