Thank you! After the early birth of Ronan we didn’t know where to look, what to think, how to compose ourselves and with the support of the nurses they helped to guide us through the toughest journey we had ever been on. The staff were amazing with the birth of both boys and the care they both received whilst Ronan went through the NICU and Tristan through the SCN was nothing short of fantastic, welcoming & encouraging. Premmie babys name(s): Timothy
Premmie babys year of birth(s): 2007
Length of stay: 6 days
Babys gestation: 36 weeks
Your thank you message:
We almost made it to full term with Tim, but unfortunately still had to endure the SCN experience. The care and consideration of the nurses and doctors in helping me experience the joys of parenting (after having a 32 weeker previously), was fantastic.

Most importantly I got to bring my child home with me as I was discharged from the hospital. I will be forever grateful for this experience. Thank you for all you did.. especially to Dr John Douglas, who made sure Tim could come home a few days earlier than normal just so I could experience that joyful feeling!

Hospital where your baby was born: Monash Medical Centre
State: VIC
Premmie babys name(s): Aiden Ethan Terblanche
Premmie babys year of birth(s): 2008
Length of stay: 13 weeks
Babys gestation: 24 weeks
Your thank you message:
To all the staff, doctors and nurses at the Monash Medical Centre and then later the Royal Children’s hospital Melbourne the biggest of thank yous. It was this time last year that we were experiencing the ride associated with having such a premature baby. I couldn’t get over how small he was, this red little bean. His name means strength and fighter. With Aiden a PDA, apnea and chronic lung were all part of the parcel. The staff always explained what was happening, always caring. I made some good friends – mothers and nurses and it’s a big part of our life.

After being home for a few weeks, Aiden was rushed into hospital at the Royal Children with meningitis. This was more scarier to me than his birth, he was really ill and we almost lost him, yet he came through and once again the doctors and nursing staff there gave us the best attention. I also want to say a large thank you to the staff and volunteers of Ronald MacDonald House in Monash. With somewhere warm, friendly and more than anything welcoming to stay, we would have been lost. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of everyone associated with Aiden.

Your thank you message:
A huge thank you to the Surgeons, Midwives, Doctors, Nurses and admin staff at Monash Medical Centre… A calm, caring, professional team saved the life of my baby daughter and myself during an emergency cesarian. The team in NICU and afterward, Special Care cared for our little girl for 94 days until she was big enough to come home – going out of their way (and against their better judgement) to enable her to come home to us on Xmas Eve. They were always compassionate, encouraging and supportive and helped make a harrowing journey, bearable. I will always be extremely thankful to those many wonderful, beautiful people.

Length of stay: 16 days
Baby’s gestation: 33 weeks
Your thank you message:
Being born at 33 weeks our little man was just under the gestational age for the hospitals Special Care Nursery but after consultation with his Paed and ourselves we remained in Waverleys care. I cannot express how grateful I was for the honest and professional way we were treated by the amazing staff. “Auntie” Liz and the other mursery staff were there with a cuppa and a chat or a shoulder to cry on when it all got too much and although leaving Ethan there every night was gutwrenching I knew how safe and well looked after he was. The girls looked after both of us and nothing was ever too hard they even had breakfast waiting at 6am for me so I could get straight to expressing or tube feeding him. They packed me a lunch a few days after my CSection so I could travel to the RCH for my elder childs surgery whilst I was an inpatient. The devotion the Midwives, nurses and nursery staff show at WPH is amazing and I will always hold them in the highest regard.

Your thank you message: I would like to thank all the lovely staff at Ballarat for their hard work ensuring the safe arrival of baby Iris. They guided us through everything and explained things in a way we could understand, even when Iris got really sick we were never left out of the loop and we truly appreciate it. In particular we’d like to thanks Jackie, Catriona & Suzie.

Thanks to everyone at the children’s as well! The level of care Iris received down there was great. Id also love to give a shout out the Ronald McDonald House Parkville as well. Without the accommodation we would of been well and truly stuck. Thanks to everyone involved in getting our baby girl home!
