Premmie Parents of the Moment

Premmie Parents of the Moment is a special area where L’il Aussie Prems feature questions for parents and their premature babies. There are many families throughout Australia who have experienced premature birth and we would love to find out more about your babies journey and how you managed as parents with your babies in hospital.

We welcome you to submit details of your journey through the NICU/SCN using our submission form. Please fill in as much detail to each question as possible on our questionaire form. You can also view our latest premmie parents featured on the site.

We look forward to reading further about your journey.

In 2008 Our Premmie Baby Forum…

Exploded! The forum saw over 400 members join in 2008 alone and on New Years eve we reached over 100,000 posts. It is truly an amazing effort on our members behalves and they have really turned the forum into a community over the past year.

When i started the forum almost 2 years ago it was slow to start with like any forum but over time it grew. I made sure i put the site “out there” not just via online but through other avenue’s. Everyone who i have personally spoken with over time has been very supportive of the site and when they hear how well it is doing they are very suprised, which is a great thing! The forums’ members meet in each state and have formed very solid friendships. Each and every member has a level of understanding whether their premmie baby was born at 23 weeks through to 36 weeks, everyone is very supportive and compassionate to all.

The members have made what L’il Aussie Prems is today and i cannot thank them enough.  I had a vision in 2007 and now the forum has so many families, 2009 will be the year that L’il Aussie Prems shines. We have idea’s coming from left right and centre which hopefully we will be implementing throughout the year.

May 2009 Bring….

Happiness and hope to all families of premature babies. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years and to those families with babies who were in hospital through these special holidays, we were all thinking of you.

In 2009 L’il Aussie Prems will be highlighting parents of premature babies throughout Australia. We believe that parents are the amazing driving force behind every baby, sitting in the hospital for hours on end or visiting their babies whenever possible, mums expressing tirelessly so their babies can receive the best “medicine” possible for their children, being so strong in their journey to brining their babies home and other families going above and beyond in the cause for helping families and premature babies.

Stay tuned to find out what we are up to early in the New Year!

Premature Baby Archer

A friend of mine Zoe gave birth to her little boy Archer prematurely at 24 weeks in September. Archer has been at Monash Medical Centre for the past 3 months and has overcome many obsticles including a heart operation due to his valve not closing.

When i gave birth to my son, Tristan, back in October i had the pleasure of meeting the now famous little Archer and what a gorgeous little man he is. Like all of us Zoe and her husband Luke, were thrown into the unknown world of having a premature baby and they have both coped amazingly. They are both such strong people and are brilliant parents. They attend to the bedside of Archer each day and thrive in the cuddles they can give their son when he is able to handle them.

When we had a coffee with Zoe and Luke we had a good chat about life in the NICU and about Archers progress. Whilst we could understand their fears, frustration, excitement and thoughts about the road ahead we have no idea how hard their journey has been as both our children were born at different gestations with Ronan being born at 27 weeks. Zoe and Luke both watched the antics that Ronan got up to whilst we were having our coffee and i am sure they can’t wait for Archer to do the same. Archer is doing brilliantly and coming along so well now and we are so proud of Zoe and Luke for being so strong for their little boy even in the down times.

Here is an article regarding the famous little Archer being in Monash for christmas. This article is brilliant and just shows how amazing this special family are.
