Rebecca Davis is the 2nd Runner Up of our 2014 Premmie Hero Volunteer Awards
Rebecca Davis is a mum of two girls and has been a neonatal nurse at Flinders Medical Centre in South Australia for the past twelve years. She has volunteered endless hours outside of her work roster to help organise a bi annual event which helps to benefit the neonatal community.
As a nurse, Rebecca is passionate to help to make a difference in the NICU world for not only the tiny patients that she cares for in the unit, but she continually goes above and beyond to support the families during such an incredibly emotional journey.
In 2012, Rebecca initiated and helped to organise the Winter Wonderland Gala Event in 2012 to raise funds for much needed ventilation equipment for the unit. To organise such an event, it takes passion, dedication and an incredible team to ensure its success, of which Rebecca was at the forefront organising much of the event during her personal down time.
The ball was such a success, that it has since become a bi annual event. In 2014, Rebecca once again volunteered her time in the months leading up to the event in organising the ball. At the event in September, an incredible 320 guests attended the Neo Circus Gala event evening with all the funds raised on the night, being provided to the Retcam Appeal to help save the eyesight of the FMC Neonatal Unit’s premature babies. Rebecca just recently lent a hand on a Sunday to help assist in serving at a Bunnings BBQ to help continue to raise funds for the appeal.
Rebecca continues to touch so many lives and is a ‘Premmie Hero’ to the thousands of parents she has met from her kind hearted support and always going above and beyond her nursing role to volunteer. She continues to make a significant difference within the premature birth community with her ongoing volunteer efforts which continuously shine and reflect through the success of not only the bi annual Gala Balls, but also by the difference she continues to make within the South Australian community.
Congratulations to Rebecca and thank you!
Rebecca was nominated by Kylie Van Der Hoek.
